maximising potential through executive coaching
At Inspire we have extensive experience of working with key individuals to deliver both personal and organisational growth. Engaging with executives on live business issues, we believe that coaching is essentially about providing an environment for strategic thinking, reflection and challenge in order to deliver action and change. The key objectives at all times being to facilitate greater clarity, improve performance and deliver organisational goals.
Why coaching?
We believe that the performance of your managers and leaders is a key factor in the success or otherwise of your organisation.
Recent research has shown that coaching typically delivers an ROI of 5.7 times the initial investment (Manchester Review, 2001).
What is coaching?
Through coaching we provide a challenging but supportive environment for strategic thinking, reflection and learning, enabling the client to deliver action and change. The key objectives at all times being to facilitate greater clarity, improve performance and achieve growth.
For us, coaching is about channelling an individual’s creativity towards organisational goals.
Who is it for?
Coaching is typically targeted at successful people from whom you are looking to leverage superior performance.
This could include supporting newly promoted individuals; stretching senior managers with just-in-time, cost effective development; helping those who need to deliver sustainable organisational change; or simply maximising the return on your learning and development investment.
How does it work?
Each director/manager will receive a totally personal development solution specific to their requirements. The programme is specifically individual and so compliments any learning that may be taking place elsewhere.
Individual one to one sessions, using a well developed process, will give each coachee the opportunity to take ‘time out’ and rise above the inevitable day-to-day distractions from which everybody suffers. During this time, they can take a more objective view away from the arena of day to day “fire fighting”.
One to one coaching is specifically designed to tackle an identified need; typical issues include time management, commitment and focus, leadership skills, delegation, career direction, controlled confrontation and self-motivation. Our proven process helps the coachee to confront the need and accept responsibility for change.
The individual coaching sessions will address the following:
o Analysis of the current situation of the participant
o A deep mining conversation to find out what the participant feels they need to address including where necessary a SWOT analysis
o Clarification of what is needed to get from where the participant is to where they want to be
o Formulation of an action plan
o An accountability process to ensure that the actions do actually take place.
This process is an ongoing rolling one. Each individual session will bring up further areas to address and by building on each of these a powerful change will take place.
Coaching sessions will take place monthly and last for two hours. The programme will be reviewed after the first three and six months and then every 6 months after that. Modifications or change of emphasis can made at any point during the coaching process.
How do we ensure results delivery?
We ask that each person we coach be allocated a sponsor. If possible, but not essentially, this person will be their line manager. The sponsor should take an active interest in the progress of the coachee. Effectively, we deliver our best results when we work in partnership with the organisation. Our standard process is then as follows:
o Issue of pre coaching questionnaire to sponsor and coachee
o Initial briefing meeting – between sponsor, coachee and coach to agree clear objectives and outcomes
o Exploratory meeting with coachee – this is immediately after the meeting with the sponsor. The idea is that this should be an initial, “no commitment” meeting to confirm that there is a need for coaching, to see if the chemistry feels right, establish the ground rules and to ensure that there is a fit between what he / she is looking for and what I can offer.
o Drafting the contract – with clear measures against which to monitor progress and results
o Coaching sessions – raising awareness and facilitating change through judicious challenge and support
o Call to action – the client delivers agreed actions, monitoring his / her progress and giving feedback to the organisation
o Evaluation of outcomes – once again, between the sponsor, coachee and coach to confirm achievement
